Athlete Branding Photography: Capturing the Spirit of Youth Martial Arts

Last week, I had the pleasure of working with Jack and Annaleah, who are both students of the Korean Martial Arts Academy in Salinas. These two young athletes truly exemplify the spirit of perseverance, dedication, and discipline in their Tae Kwon Do journey. It’s always inspiring to do athlete branding photography for youth, capturing not just their skills but their dedication and growth.

I enjoy these kinds of shoots that highlight youth sports and their journey. You might remember my recent athlete branding photography with Andrew Rodriguez (Follow: @drewsuperfly), a rising star in boxing from Salinas, CA. His photos were fire and took on a life of their own.

Anyway, back to these great Tae Kwon Do athletes…

Jack's story is one of stepping forward when the world paused. When sports and activities were scarce, Jack found his path in martial arts under the guidance of Instructor Harold Morrison. What started as a spark of interest quickly became a passion. He dedicated countless hours to mastering forms, building discipline, and honing his craft. Today, Jack stands tall as a Tae Kwon Do Black Belt, a testament to his mental and physical strength. Beyond martial arts, he's a 4.0+ student at Palma Junior High in Salinas and enjoys playing basketball and soccer.

Capturing Jack's pride and determination in my studio was an honour. His journey shows that even in challenging times, commitment and perseverance can lead to incredible growth.

Annaleah Davis is another exceptional young athlete. At just 14, she exemplifies excellence and dedication in everything she does. A 9th-grade honour roll student at Rancho San Juan High School, Annaleah balances academics, athletics, and the arts. She’s a National Champion Hip Hop dancer, a singer, and a proud member of the Golden State Warriors Jr. Jam Squad. Her performances radiate energy, artistry, and skill.

In May 2021, Annaleah began her Tae Kwon Do journey, guided by Master Harold Morrison. In just 3 ½ years, she earned her 1st Degree Black Belt, a result of unwavering commitment, discipline, and sacrifice. Capturing her milestone achievement in the studio was incredibly inspiring.

I had the honour of documenting both Jack and Annaleah’s dedication and growth in martial arts. Their stories remind me of the power of perseverance, the joy of growth, and the strength found in discipline. If this has inspired you to learn this fantastic martial art, then get in touch with Master Harold Morrison.

Here’s to their continued success in martial arts and beyond. Congratulations, Jack and Annaleah!
